Guiding the Way Forward: Welcoming Our Acting Executive Director

We are pleased to announce a pivotal moment in our organization's journey - the appointment of Stewart Sarkozy-Banoczy as our Acting Executive Director.

We are pleased to announce a pivotal moment in our organization's journey - the appointment of Stewart Sarkozy-Banoczy as our Acting Executive Director. As we navigate this transitional phase, Stewart steps into this role with a wealth of experience and a commitment to maintaining momentum for our members and partners.

With a deep understanding of our organization's values and objectives, Stewart is no stranger to our mission. He first served as a representative of the Partner organizations Resilient Cities Network and Precovery Labs, which he founded, as well as serving as a member of OSA working groups. He joined the OSA steering committee in early 2022 and now serves as Chair.  His transition into the acting Executive Director position ensures stability and a knowing hand during this period.

In these interim stages, Stewart will play a crucial role in maintaining our organization's longer-term objectives and day-to-day activities, while we actively search for a permanent Executive Director.

Stewart’s leadership philosophy revolves around collaboration and adaptability. He recognizes the importance of aligning our team's efforts and keeping the channels of communication open. So feel free to reach out! Stewart also believes in the needed holistic and intersectional approach to OSA’s work, supporting scientists, practitioners, and partners along a spectrum of engagement. We look forward to continuing to build and strengthen these relationships.

"I am honored to step into this interim role and contribute to OSA's continued success along with our steering committee members and staff,” he said. “Together, we will uphold our commitment to addressing ocean sewage and wastewater pollution and also chart a course for a seamless transition to a new Executive Director. We will be hiring for that position soon, and I look forward to welcoming our new Executive Director."

We extend our gratitude to Chris Clapp for his dedicated service and leadership. The path he paved serves as a solid foundation for OSA to build upon.

Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this transitional journey with optimism. We invite all our stakeholders, partners, and supporters to join us in extending Stewart a warm welcome.
